However, due to operational problems, Great Wall Industry had already exceeded 2 million in debt at that time. How to lead Great Wall Industry to turn losses into profits and find a new way out was a question that Wei Jianjun urgently needed to think about at that time. After fumbling for several years, Wei Jianjun finally found a good direction – building a car.

With the regulation of “catalog” management of automobile production by the state in 1994, the sedan “patched” by Great Wall Motors could not be listed in the catalog and could not continue to be sold. Wei Jianjun had no choice but to stop selling the sedan and began to explore again.

Wei Jianjun believed that there would be a strong demand for pickup trucks that could pull goods, so he resolutely entered the pickup truck industry. The subsequent results were just as Wei Jianjun expected. The pickup trucks produced by Great Wall sold well, with tens of thousands of pickup trucks sold in less than three years.
Time came to 2002. Great Wall Motors, which was a great success in the pickup truck market, began to target the SUV market again. In this year, Great Wall Motors launched China’s first economical SUV, the Saifu. Once it was launched, it became the national SUV of the year. The top three sales; the following year, Great Wall Motor won the double championship of pickup trucks and SUVs in China for the first time.
Nine years later, in 2011, Great Wall Motors launched Haval H6, which opened the prelude to Haval’s “myth”. From 2011 to 2021, Haval H6 has been China’s SUV sales champion for 11 consecutive years, and now this car is also well-known For the “domestic god car”.
